Our Story

The Mallinson family name dates back to the early 1900s with many of that time making a living in Yorkshire Mills as 'Cloth Dressers'. A career in textiles was reignited in 2019 by founder Ryan who created the brand shortly after the birth of his son Edward. Hailing from a working class suburb of Leeds, the business was built on the craft of re-waxing and repairing wax jackets. Mallin & Son was born.

Beginning with friends and then independent customers, Mallin & Son started servicing high end jackets from Barbour, Belstaff, Burberry and all in-between whilst flying the flag for sustainable fashion, all from a kitchen table in the heart of West Yorkshire.

The business soon became an authority on wax jackets for customers and enthusiasts across the globe. Leading manufacturers soon came onboard, working direct with on behalf of their customers. The business then set up premises in our hometown of Ossett, Wakefield. Local and national press, TV, celebrities and a large social media following soon followed.

Ossett was once a thriving centre for textiles during the late 1800s with many of the mills employing large numbers of the town's people. They built a strong trade in the recycling of woollen goods, known as Mungo and Shoddy that was 'exported to the world'. Whilst most of those old trades and businesses now consigned to history, many of the mills still stand.

Our clothing is inspired by those industrial roots and the workers that kept them alive. We're here to write our own chapter of the town's textile history.
