Summer 2025
The allure of Italy has held strong since the early 1990's.
Channel 4 on Sunday morning's provided both a lesson in history and football, with James Richardson delivering the weekly news from behind an oversized newspaper.
Serie A was what the Premier League is today in the world of football, with the game's greatest players starring for the game's greatest clubs. The kits, the names, the stadiums, the fans, it provided a window to my West Yorkshire living room of a culture that I've grown to since love.
We would always holiday to Spain as a family which offered more mystique to the land just a little further on. Everyone went to Spain or France but not Italy. It was a place you'd only see in books and on TV.
In later years, I have come to revere everything that surrounds the rules of Italian style but before that came cycling.
The Tour was prestigious and a behemoth in its own right but the Giro D'Italia offered even more romance. The terrain, the crowds, the riders. Those Italian riders from Bartali and Coppi to Pantani through to Alaphilippe, were and are so great to watch. I will tell anybody who'll listen that cycling is the world's most stylish sport.
As soon as the sun arrives in Yorkshire, I am taking away to all of that.
The Yorkshire winter holds my heart, wrapped in wax cotton and wool. But the Italian sunshine warms my soul and offers an escape, just for a little while.
This collection is here to celebrate that.
Ryan.
