Menswear Guide | Floris Neroli Voyage

Menswear Guide | Floris Neroli Voyage

Back in March I had the pleasure of reviewing Floris’ Jermyn Street fragrance whose scent I am glad to inform has sound-tracked my Summer so far, with only intermittent reaches for my Acqua Di Parma Colonia.

Our relationship with this historic fragrance house has continued as we happily packed a bottle of their Neroli Voyage for our trip to Nerja on the Southern tip of Spain.

Inspired by the Mediterranean coastline, it seemed the perfect setting to test in the surroundings that inspired its creation.

This vibrant fragrance opens with a citrus burst of neroli and lemon, complemented by the marine notes for an added sea breeze freshness.

Neroli is a note that has arrived on my radar in recent years as I delve deeper into scents that lean towards the luxurious. Steam-distilled from the delicate white blossoms of the bitter orange tree, it’s a highly-prized essential oil used by some of the best fragrance houses in the world, including Floris. Add the Lemon and it’s Summer in a bottle.

There’s a note to mention with all three bottles of Floris that I have on my rotation that I can’t quite put my finger on. Where Tom Ford screams obtuse and Diptyque overtly clean, Floris sits at the table like the responsible adult. It’s the Range Rover SV in a car park of modified Range Rover Sports, the unassuming masterpiece that always delivers.

Where the aforementioned Acqua Di Parma offers Italian DNA with every application, Floris offers Mayfair or the English Gentlemen abroad. The traveller, which all harks back to founder Robert Floris’ and the scent’s inspiration.

I have written previously on the value of a great scent and the link between how you feel and how you act. A scent, be it coffee or bergamot, can lift my mood in an instant and is the reason why I make no apology for investing in fragrance that does just that. A good scent elevates more than you realise and long gone are the days where men’s grooming was something done in the shadows. It is now rightly embraced.

Floris have been refining the art of grooming since 1730 and create a whole range of products from scents to shaving cream to balm and moisturiser. I was surprised to see shower gel soap and deodorant too, all daily essentials that add a moment of luxury to everyday tasks that make up their Santal Grooming range. And this is a big thing for me at the moment, trying to slow down and act with more intent on the little things. Taking the time to enjoy everything from pouring that perfect espressos to my morning skincare routine. It’s a tiny, tiny piece of self-care but for that I’m a massive advocate.

With Floris, not only do you invest in the quality of the products, you take home a true piece of heritage. We were kindly gifted our bottle of Neroli Voyage but can honestly say we would be saving for a bottle if we weren’t so lucky.
