Inside the Atelier Vol 7

Inside the Atelier Vol 7

We're 6 years deep now into this side 'hustle' that grew much bigger than I ever anticipated. One of the biggest things I have learnt in that time is how to say 'no'. In the early days, shiny lights would lead me down blind alleys and leave me feeling confused. It's something many people do when starting out as you find your way through making a successful business.

I have been offered investment which included taking the brand into dog accessories and full on country-wear, I've been offered work for other brands and I still get offered lots of collabs.

I don't want to sound all 'Linkedin' but collaboration is big on my personal agenda. I'm a firm believer in a high tide rising all boats, especially for the good guys. It may seem twee or even naive but it's worked so far. I also like to shout about 'good work' as these days it can be quite hard to find amongst the multiples of 'shit work' that's sold on your high streets and social media streams.

I love nothing more than good people making good things from good quality materials. This is the foundation for building an industry that values things built to last over poor rubbish. £500 on a coat is an astronomical amount of money for anything these days but when added up over the lifetime of a  good pair of boots or a jacket, it is actually really great value.

So why doesn't everybody just do that?

Doing so means playing the long game which doesn't make the capitalist machine in a world conditioned for 'everything now'. It wants you to keep consuming in hope of happiness instead of wearing those expensive boots outdoors for a day's hike and actually being happy.

Over the next few months, we've teamed up with a number of amazing brands to show the best of what's out there and create some unique pieces together along the way. We will be creating some interesting articles that talk about the brands you need to know about and a little bot about the places we visit. If you have anyone you think we should know about, then please get in touch.

If you've got this far, then first of all thank you and secondly you may be happy to know that we're switching focus on our newsletter strategy to offer you some real value. We plan to run a weekly round-up of the best secondhand wax jacket deals across reselling platforms such as Vinted, eBay and Depop with links for you to buy. Hopefully this will give you the opportunity to buy something great and save some money...oh and help us to keep these wonderful jackets in circulation!

So lots going on as always, especially as I find my way through forming this channel into something great.. and I can't do that without your input, so please send it my way if you have any.

Finally, if you're got this far, here's a 15% off code for our products to say thankyou!

Use code 'THANKYOU!'
