Elliot Brown Watches

Elliot Brown Watches

Every good wardrobe should contain a certain number of essential items. A great waxed jacket, white t-shirt, good boots and a quality pair of selvedge jeans, all at the most basic level. Dare I say, to finish that list, you must add a watch.

I caught an Instagram post only this week shared by a photographer at the most recent Pitti Uomo in Florence who remarked that he barely saw any ‘classic’ style watches. All he saw, in the main, was an army of Apple Watches. He also remarked on how a watch told of a person's individuality and says something about their style. I wholeheartedly agree.

I’ve come to fall in love with watches recently having learnt more about the movements and the stories behind the brands plus the intricacies involved behind the production. It’s the perfect elixir for my personal tastes yet maybe I’ve always found the cost of entry prohibitive for my own wallet.

I’ve owned many watches over the years and like most material things that I own, they each have a story. I have my Grandad’s old Seiko dress watch that was given to me by my dad at my sister’s wedding. I have another Seiko chrono bought as a gift for a big birthday and I have a Tissot I’d bought myself which secretly received an inscription for the same addition of a candle.

I’ve come to learn more about the iconic and aspirational pieces that form a collector’s wardrobe and I now understand the differing styles. From there, I went on to look into what met my own needs.

Like the jackets I’ve built a business upon. I wanted something stylish but also built from pure utility and that’s where I came across Elliot Brown Watches.

Born in 2013, ‘Elliot Brown began with a goal to build the most wearable, affordable, toughest watches on the planet’. So far, so good.

‘They are values that sit firmly behind every timepiece the company makes and give an insight into how the brand naturally collaborates with organisations including the Armed Forces, Mountain Rescue England & Wales, Land Rover, government agencies, and blue light services.’ Now I’m in.

I’ll stop using ctrl and V for a moment to encourage you to read their story for yourself as it’s impressive. Essentially, it shares a lot of my own ethics on how to run a business and also quite importantly for me, they’re British.

I realised I’d actually heard about Elliot Brown a while back when I read the story about strapping one of their watches to the exterior of a racing yacht and sending it around the world for a year. This doesn’t just speak our language, it shares our morale fibre.

We’re always wanting to shout products and brands that deserve your attention so we were more than happy when the Elliot Brown team sent us their Beachmaster Nivo and Arne Field watch to put through their paces and tell you exactly what we think. You can expect to see that in the coming months.

A week in and we’re already proud to wear Elliot Brown. Let the adventures begin…

As always, we'd love to hear your feedback!
